Amravati: The autopsy of the infants who died in District Women’s Hospital (Daffrin Hospital) in Amravati has revealed that two of them died due to severe burn injuries while the third suffocated to death.Police sources said these are preliminary findings and the final report will be prepared later, for which viscera and other necessary samples have been preserved.The fire had occurred on the morning of Aug 24. According to the preliminary report, Kiran Bethekar’s newborn suffered 75.5% burns and died due to shock caused by the injuries. At the time of the fire, she was on ventilator support, and her hands, legs and various parts of the body suffered serious burns. Her head and hair were also badly burnt, the report stated.Gayatri Chopde’s newborn suffered 20% burns. The baby died due to a combination of severe burn injuries and respiratory obstruction caused by smoke inhalation, the report stated.Pooja Borange’s one-day-old baby had suffered 4% burns. The cause of death, the report stated, was smoke which entered the respiratory tract, causing severe breathing difficulty.
