Ferozepur: A minor scuffle between children on Holi escalated into a deadly confrontation between two groups, resulting in the death of two men late evening on Wednesday.According to information, two groups of children started fighting over pigeon racing in the village. The dispute escalated when the father of one of the children was shot by a person from the other group. The injured then snatched the pistol, firing back at the same person, killing both of them on the spot.The deceased were identified as Khilara alias Munna of Karma village and Judge Singh of Tibbi Kalan village. On receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene, took possession of both bodies, and sent them to the govt hospital for post-mortem examination.Bittu, a family member present at the compromise meeting, explained that a fight broke out between the children over pigeon racing. Bittu said the matter escalated when the two sides initially engaged in a heated argument. Following this, they opened fire at each other, creating chaos at the scene and killing two people.Rohit, son of the deceased Khalara Singh, said a compromise meeting was held to reach a settlement, during which Jaggi opened fire on his father, Khalara Singh. After this, the injured Khalara Singh snatched Jaggi’s pistol and fired at him. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh, along with his team, promptly took charge of the situation. The SSP said the case is now being investigated. A police team was deployed to maintain peace in the village to prevent further incidents and maintain law and order. Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sukhwinder Singh disclosed that the altercation stemmed from a trivial dispute among children, and a thorough investigation is underway to piece together the precise sequence of events.
