Kanpur: A bike rammed into the rear of a wood-laden tractor-trolley near a culvert, leaving two youths dead near Jaitipur village under Ghatampur police station area in Kanpur late Monday evening, police said. The deceased were identified as Jaitipur resident Arun (21), son of Ramdas, and Ankit (18), son of Dharmendra. Police said the two were returning to their village after getting lahi processed in the town and were carrying oil when the crash occurred.According to the police, Arun had come to Ghatampur on a bike with his maternal cousin Ankit to get the crop processed. After the processing, both were returning late in the evening. As soon as they reached the Jaitipur culvert, their bike crashed into the rear of a tractor-trolley moving ahead of them.Due to the high-speed collision, both were critically injured. Villagers rushed them to the CHC, where the doctor declared both dead. Police out-post in-charge Shailendra Singh said that the accident occurred when the bike crashed into the rear of the tractor-trolley. The bike riders were not wearing helmets. The tractor-trolley has been seized. The bodies are being sent for postmortem examination.Both the deceased used to work as helpers in trucks and sometimes also did labour work at brick kilns. The bike they were riding had also been borrowed from someone at the brick kiln. Ankit had come to his aunt’s house in Jaitpur after getting off a truck.
