Ajmer: A private bus lost control and plunged into a 200-ft-deep gorge in Pushkar valley Sunday noon, killing two passengers and injuring 30 others.According to the police, both the deceased were women and the injured were undergoing treatment at JLN Hospital.Deputy SP (rural) Ramchandra Choudhary said, “The bus was going to Pushkar and the incident took place just ahead of Sanjesar (the top of the hill). When the bus fell into the gorge, because of trees it slid and therefore passengers got time to come out. In this accident, Pooja (28), and Vimla Devi (50), both residents of Ajmer, died.” “Police are investigating and looking for the driver who fled after jumping from the bus,” Choudhary added. Reportedly, the driver lost control of the steering while taking a U-turn on the hill towards Pushkar and the bus slid into the gorge. The by-passers who saw the bus falling into the gorge carried out the rescue operations. They made ropes using clothes and helped the passengers to the upside of the hill.According to the police, there were 33 passengers on the bus and they were coming from Pisanghan via Ajmer and heading to Pushkar for a wedding. Officials said that the injured were first taken to Pushkar govt hospital and then referred to JLN Hospital in Ajmer, and till evening 2 injured persons were relieved from hospital after treatment. Because of the accident, the Ajmer-Pushkar road remained jammed for hours. District Collector Lok Bandhu reached the spot and took information about the accident. Speaker and Ajmer MLA Vasudev Devnani talked to the officials and took information about the injured and directed the principal of JLN Medical College to ensure proper treatment of the injured. Devnani said that the traffic system on Pushkar ghati will be improved.
