News NetworkKanpur: Kotwali police arrested two accused late Monday night in connection with an alleged assault on a man belonging to Sikh community at a bar in Civil Lines, where his turban was removed during a quarrel. Police said a search for the other accused is underway.The incident involved Vansh Bhatia, younger brother of Sahaj Bhatia, a car dealer residing in Azad Nagar. Vansh had gone to a bar in Civil Lines with his family on Friday.At around 2:12 am, Vansh was coming down alone in the lift when a dispute broke out between him and Dhairya Gupta, a resident of Pandu Nagar, over name-calling. Police said Dhairya then came down in the lift with his three companions and a girl and began beating Vansh with kicks and punches within the bar premises.During the assault, Vansh’s turban was removed, his hair was pulled and his head was slammed against the wall. Vansh sustained serious injuries on his nose and face, and his throat was also choked.On Saturday, the victim’s mother, Sonia Bhatia, filed a case against all four accused at Kotwali.Kotwali in-charge Jagdish Pandey said, “Dhairya and his associate Sachin Gupta, who assaulted the Sikh youth, were arrested late at night. Search for the others is underway.”
