Hyderabad: Two persons, including a 49-year-old woman and an unidentified man, drowned in separate incidents reported in the city since Wednesday.A 49-year-old labourer drowned in a stream at Pilloniguda village in Shamshabad. The body of the victim, who went missing after going for a temple visit, was found in the abutting stream on Wednesday. Police suspect she might have accidentally fallen into the stream and drowned.The deceased was identified as B Anjamma, a worker from Pilloniguda. According to the family members, Anjamma left home at 3.30pm on July 28 after informing her younger daughter, Srivani, that she would be going to Yellamma temple.“The temple is abutting a stream, Venteru vaagu. Before leaving the house, my mother-in-law told her daughter that she would be going to the temple to offer a coconut to the deity. As she did not return home till late in the night, my sister-in-law alerted me. I immediately rushed to the village and searched the surroundings of the temple with the help of locals but could not locate her,” Anjamma’s son-in-law, M Shivashankar, a chef from Jadcherla, said.While the family members continued the search, the body of Anjamma surfaced in the stream near the temple on Wednesday afternoon. “On the stream’s bank where the body was found, my mother-in-law’s footwear, coconut and water bottle were also found,” Shivashankar said.Shamshabad inspector Y Surender Reddy said that they suspect that before visiting the temple, Anjamma might have entered the water to wash her feet and accidentally drowned. A case was registered under Section 194 (Suspicious death) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).In another incident, the body of an unidentified man, aged between 40 and 50 years, was found in the Musi at Indira Nagar in Chaitanyapuri on Thursday morning. “The victim was clad in a black lungi. Letters ‘RM’ were tattooed on his left arm. There were no external injuries. We have circulated his photo to all the surrounding police stations in the city. The identity of the victim is yet to be established,” Chaitanyapuri inspector K Saidulu said. A case was registered under Section 194 of the BNSS.
