Prayagraj: At least two people, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed and seven others injured when a speeding car ploughed into a group of baraatis standing near a DJ following the welcome (dwarachar) ceremony at Baudai Katauta village in the trans-Ganga pocket of the district late Tuesday night.Police said a marriage party from Kanpur Dehat came to one Sukuru Chauhan’s place where the wedding of her daughter was to be solemnised. After the jaimal ceremony, a group of baraatis were standing near the DJ at around 2 am when a speeding car ploughed into them, leaving one Ramesh of Baudai Katauta village dead on the spot and eight others seriously injured.Upon being alerted, senior cops along with forces rushed to the spot and took the injured to SRN Hospital. During treatment, the 12-year-old boy, reportedly associated with the DJ party, also succumbed to his injuries.Following the incident, locals created a ruckus and blocked the road for hours. Cops have also launched a hunt for the car involved in the accident. Despite the incident, the wedding ceremony was later completed.
