Nagpur: Two young men from Madhya Pradesh were arrested on Monday for allegedly transporting 105kg ganja worth over Rs21 lakh. The case was registered at Vadoda police station after the accused abandoned their truck upon spotting a police patrol team.During a routine night patrol near Umri Phata on May 2, police noticed a suspicious truck parked by the roadside. Upon inspection, officers recovered a large quantity of ganja containing leaves, flowers, seeds, buds and stems packed in plastic bags. Acting on directions from SP (rural) Harssh A Poddar and additional SP Anil Mhaske, the local crime branch team launched a search operation. On May 4, the team arrested the driver, Pranayasingh Dashmer, 20, and cleaner Rohit Markam, 19, both residents of Pipariya, Kurai taluka, Seoni dist. A case was registered against them under the NDPS Act.
