Hyderabad: As many as 19 passengers were injured when an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus veered off the highway in the Jogulamba Gadwal district on Thursday morning.According to the local police, the bus was travelling from Ameerpet to Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. The accident occurred at around 4 am, when the bus veered off the highway and rolled onto its side.Passers-by alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and helped the passengers out of the bus. Of the total number of passengers, 19 were injured and taken to hospital. Several of them suffered fractures, and two passengers sustained serious injuries.After questioning the driver, the police said that he claimed that he had swerved to the left to avoid hitting a vehicle that had suddenly appeared in front of the RTC bus, causing the accident.However, investigators suspected that the driver might have dozed off, causing the accident. Police registered a criminal case of negligence against the bus driver. A few hours later, the police moved the damaged bus.
