Amravati: Out of 464 samples of soyabean seeds taken for analysis from the district, 189 have been found to be sub-standard in reports received till till August 17 . Action is being taken against the seed producing company in this regard, said district superintending agriculture officer Rahul Satpute.After farmers complained that soyabean seeds failed to germinate, agriculture department issued orders to the seed producing companies to submit distributor-wise, variety-wise and lot-wise information of supplies in the district. Taluka-level grievance redressal committees have been constituted to ensure inspection of complaints.Criminal cases have been registered in the district against the seed producing companies. Out of the 3,157 complaints received regarding soybean seeds, 2,326 are against a particular company against which a criminal case has been registered at Gadgenagar police station in Amravati.
