New Delhi: An 18-year-old boy was allegedly shot dead by bike-borne assailants while returning from a wedding function in northwest Delhi’s Model Town on Sunday morning.The deceased has been identified as Ishant, a resident of Jahangirpuri. A PCR call was received around 2.28 am reporting that a man was lying injured near Azadpur. As police reached the spot, Ishant was shifted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival. During the inspection, police recovered empty cartridges, indicating that multiple rounds were fired. “Preliminary probe revealed that he was returning from a marriage function when bike-borne assailants allegedly fired at him,” said additional CP (northwest) Bhisham Singh.Investigators suspect that the killing may be linked to a local rivalry. Police said Ishant had a criminal background and his past associations are being examined as part of the probe. TNN
