Hyderabad: For improving the security of women travelling in TG State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) buses, Adilabad police has got all 175 buses fitted with CCTV cameras. In each bus, a CCTV camera has been fixed close to the driver’s seat so that it would capture the area designated for women.“Apart from gathering evidence, the presence of CCTV cameras can create deterrence,” Adilabad superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan told TOI.The arranging of cameras was done nearly two weeks ago. A couple of years ago, a similar service was provided in some district buses in Rajanna Sircilla district. “Apart from CCTV cameras in buses, ‘Police Akka’ is another initiative where women cops will befriend girl students in colonies and at institutes to know about instances of misbehaviour,” the police official said.
