Nagpur: Fifteen students — 4 girls and 11 boys — of a residential school for intellectually disabled in Kachurwahi village, about 15km from tehsil headquarters, fell ill with suspected food poisoning on Saturday after consuming midday meal and were admitted to the sub-district hospital in Ramtek for treatment.Lunch comprising comprised dal, rice, vegetable curry and chapatis was served to all students at around 11am on Saturday. About 15 minutes after consuming food, several students began vomiting.Sub-district hospital medical superintendent Dr Sanjay Waghmare said, “All the 15 students are stable and responding well to treatment. They will be kept under observation for 24 hours and are likely to be discharged on Sunday,” he said.The Suraj Residential School for intellectually disabled children has permission from the Maharashtra govt to admit 40 students. At present, 35 students were enrolled and staying at the school, sources said.The exact cause of suspected food poisoning will be known only after a detailed investigation, hospital authorities said.
