Hisar: Police action against drug trafficking, illegal liquor trade and cybercrime increased sharply in Hisar during the first half of 2026 compared with the corresponding period last year, according to enforcement data released by the district police.Hisar superintendent of police Sidhanth Jai said the sharpest increase was recorded under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police registered 135 cases between Jan 1 and July 6 this year, compared with 64 during the same period in 2025. Arrests also rose from 151 to 226, while cases involving commercial quantities of narcotics increased.Action against the illegal liquor trade also intensified. Cases registered under the Excise Act rose from 23 to 94, while arrests more than tripled during the period.Police also stepped up action against cybercrime, facilitating the recovery of Rs 86 lakh for victims of cyber fraud. Arrests in cybercrime cases increased to 171, compared with the corresponding period last year.The police also targeted the proceeds of crime. In NDPS-related cases, properties worth nearly Rs 1.8 crore were attached as part of efforts to disrupt the financial networks of organised drug traffickers.
