Pune: A total of 13,119 candidates have been recommended for appointment against 19,754 teacher posts advertised through Maharashtra’s Pavitra Portal, leaving 6,635 positions vacant, according to the state school education department.Sachindra Pratap Singh, the commissioner of education, stated that recommendations for posts being filled without interviews were released on Thursday. The highest number of vacancies was recorded in Classes 1 to 5, where 5,130 of the 12,671 advertised posts remain unfilled.The recommendations are based on the teacher aptitude and intelligence test (TAIT) 2025. The online examination was conducted between May 27 and June 5, 2025. Out of the 2,28,808 candidates who registered, 2,11,308 appeared for the test, and 1,70,108 eventually completed their self-certification. Following advertisements posted on the portal between May 1 and Aug 20, 2026, candidates were permitted to submit their preferences between August 6 and August 16.Of the 19,754 total posts, 13,225 were in Zilla Parishad schools, for which 8,481 candidates have been recommended. Municipal councils had 280 posts with 226 recommendations, while municipal corporations had 1,954 posts with 1,306 recommendations.The Tribal Development Department advertised 2,421 posts in government schools and recommended 1,601 candidates. Other govt educational institutions saw 54 recommendations against 56 posts, while private institutions recommended 1,451 candidates for 1,818 available positions.At the school level, 4,207 candidates have been recommended for 5,421 posts for Classes 6 to 8, leaving 1,214 vacant. For Classes 9 and 10, 1,119 candidates have been recommended against 1,298 posts, while 252 have been recommended against 364 posts for Classes 11 and 12.The department said vacancies also remained because candidates were not available under certain parallel reservation categories. These include 2,760 posts under the 15% ex-servicemen quota and 1,760 posts under the 10% part-time quota. Another 802 posts for Scheduled Tribes and 1,408 posts under the scheduled tribe category in PESA areas remained vacant. The department confirmed that these unfilled vacancies would be addressed in a subsequent “converted round” of recruitment.Candidates can check their selection status by logging into the Pavitra portal. Those who have been recommended are advised to contact their respective appointing authorities for the next stage of the process.A state-level grievance redressal and correction committee has also been established. Candidates wishing to submit complaints or demands must do so by Sept 6.
