Nagpur: A 58-year-old man allegedly molested his 12-year-old relative in the Old Kamptee area after approaching her to ask about her studies.According to the complaint lodged with Old Kamptee police, the incident occurred around 9pm on Sept 14 when the minor had gone to a shop near her home.While the girlwas returning, the accused, who owns a shop near her residence, allegedly touched her inappropriately. The girl returned home and informed her mother about the incident.Police said the complainant also alleged that the accused had behaved inappropriately with the minor on an earlier occasion.Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the accused on Sept 20 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.The accused has not been arrested so far, police said, adding that the investigation is underway. Officers from Old Kamptee police station visited the scene as part of the probe.Police urged parents and residents to remain vigilant and encouraged children to immediately report any uncomfortable interactions with adults.
