Wardha: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly hammered to death with a boulder on Wednesday night in the Rotha area of Wardha district, where police suspect the minor girl was sexually assaulted before being murdered. Her body was found in a pool of blood with a skull smashed.As per preliminary information, the girl returned home from a nearby zilla parishad school in the afternoon and was alone when she was attacked. The victim’s clothes were found discarded inside a farm storage shed, while the girl was found disrobed in another room on the premises. The incident came to the fore when her parents returned home from the fields and found her senseless. Police were immediately informed.Wardha superintendent of police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal, additional superintendent of police Sadashiv Waghmare, officers from local crime branch, and personnel from Sawangi police station rushed to the scene and launched an investigation late evening. Police have reportedly detained four persons for questioning in connection with the case. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
