Pune: The Loni Kand police on Friday afternoon rescued a 12-year-old boy who was engaged in construction work for a toilet and washroom at a Zilla Parishad (ZP) school in Wadegaon, Shirur taluka.Police constable Rohit Mane from Loni Kand police station filed a complaint against the contractor. A case has been registered under the Juvenile Justice Act.The Pune ZP had awarded a contract to build a toilet and washroom for students on the school premises.The contractor visits a mazdoor adda in the Wagholi–Kesnand area to hire workers. On Friday, the contractor hired a daily wage worker, his wife and their son, and brought them to the school for work. The couple was found working at the site along with their son,” Senior inspector Sunita Rokade of Loni Kand police told TOI.“The boy was seen carrying sand for the construction work at the school. Passersby alerted the police control room, after which our team reached the spot,” she said.“Our team immediately stopped the work and instructed the boy and his parents to return home. The family is from Karnataka and currently resides in Kesnand,” Rokade added.
