Jaipur: Poor weather conditions at Delhi airport disrupted flight operations Monday, leading to the diversion of 12 flights—nine domestic and three international—to Jaipur airport between 11.20am and 12.30pm. Most of these flights returned to Delhi by 3pm.According to the official spokesperson of Jaipur airport, the diverted flights were IndiGo’s Chennai-Delhi flight, Air India Express’ Indore-Delhi flight, Imphal-Delhi flight and Ranchi-Delhi flight, Chennai-Delhi flight, Bhubaneswar-Delhi, SpiceJet’s Leh-Delhi flight, IndiGo’s Siliguri-Delhi flight and Goa-Delhi flight.The three international diversions handled by Jaipur airport were Air India’s Dubai-Delhi flight, Air India’s Singapore-Delhi flight and Air India Express’ Sharjah-Delhi flight.Airport sources said the flights were diverted due to adverse weather in Delhi that affected operations, temporarily increasing aircraft movement at Jaipur as planes were accommodated until conditions improved.Once weather conditions at Delhi airport improved and flight operations resumed, the diverted aircraft began returning. Airport authorities said all 12 flights subsequently returned to Delhi, with all departures from Jaipur for Delhi completed around 3.20pm.“Passengers travelling on the affected flights were temporarily delayed as the aircraft awaited clearance and improved weather conditions at Delhi,” said an officer.
