Dhubri: Acting on a tip-off, the district crime unit, assisted by Dhubri police, carried out a search operation at Kuntai Char Part-II in the district on Saturday afternoon and seized 1,007 Yaba tablets suspected to be a prohibited NDPS substance. Police said the operation began at around 4:48 pm after receiving secret information about suspected possession and movement of narcotics in the area. During the search, the tablets were allegedly recovered from three persons — Amir Ali Sk (35), son of late Sonaullah Sk of Majer Char Chalakura; Siddique Ali Paramanik (30), son of Kadam Ali Paramanik of No. 10 Majerchar, both under Dhubri Police Station; and Md Bahar Ali (44), son of Md Poran Ali of Motakhowa Part-III under Fakirganj Police Station. The trio were arrested on the spot. Police also seized three mobile handsets and a black polythene bag, all taken into official custody. Dhubri PS officer-in charge Pritam Das said further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination.
