Silchar: The search for a 10-year-old girl who went missing in the Barak river at Kanakpur in Silchar entered its fourth day on Monday, with rescue teams yet to find any trace of the child.The missing girl, identified as Tania Begum, is the daughter of Jabir Hussain. The family, originally from Damchhara in Dima Hasao district, currently lives in a rented house on the banks of the Barak river in Kanakpur.According to family members and local residents, Tania had gone to bathe in the river on Friday afternoon. When she did not return, a search was initiated. Her sandals and a water bucket were later found on the riverbank, sparking fears that she may have been swept away by the strong current.Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched a search operation soon after the incident. Despite extensive searches conducted over the past four days, the girl remains untraced.Emotional scenes were witnessed along the riverbank as Tania’s parents, relatives and local residents waited anxiously for updates from the rescue teams. The family’s anguish was palpable as hopes of finding the child remained alive despite the passage of time.Officials said the search operation would continue until the missing girl is located.
