The 10, Circular Road bungalow wears a deserted look after Rabri Devi and her family vacated it on Thursday

Patna: Former CM Rabri Devi and her family on Thursday vacated the official bungalow at 10, Circular Road, ending nearly two decades of residence at a property that also functioned as the RJD’s camp office. The party’s iconic lantern was removed first, followed by the family and finally their vintage jeep, leaving the bungalow deserted. RJD workers, who had been stationed outside the residence after the family gave up its govt security, also left.Rabri, her husband Lalu Prasad and their children had been living at the bungalow since 2006 after it was allotted to them following the assembly election. The property has now been allotted to animal and fisheries resources minister Nand Kishore Ram.“Ab koi nahin hai wahan. Sham ko purana jeep bhi chala gaya (None from Lalu Prasad family is there. Even Lalu’s vintage jeep too left the bungalow in the evening),” RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ali Ahmad said.He said Rabri vacated the bungalow on Wednesday, while Lalu left on Thursday along with his son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.Party functionaries said the family has shifted to its under-construction bungalow at Kautilya Nagar. Although Rabri was allotted the official residence at 39, Hardinge Road as leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, she chose not to move there. The process of vacating the bungalow began after the NDA returned to power following the Nov 2025 assembly elections and gathered pace after Samrat Choudhary became chief minister. The family made several attempts to delay the move before finally vacating the premises.“They said this bungalow has ‘tahkhana’ (underground vault) and needs to be dug out. Now they should use the earthmovers to dig it out. If they fail to trace it, they must tender a public apology,” RJD chief spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav said.JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said, “Well they vacated the bungalow but they should have done it earlier.” “The family had remained involved in bungalow and property-related controversies. They never fought for the people’s issues,” he alleged.
