Gurgaon: A one-year-old boy drowned in a water-filled bucket at his home in Jeevan Nagar Part-II, Faridabad, on Wednesday.The child, Aryan, was the only son of his parents. Police said his mother was doing household chores in an upstairs room while his father, Bajrangi, had gone out for daily-wage work. Other family members were also busy with household activities when Aryan was playing on the terrace.According to his grandmother, Meena, Aryan wandered towards a bucket filled with water that had been kept near the bathroom. He fell face-first into it and was unable to get out.When the family realised that the child had been missing for some time, they searched for him and found him inside the bucket. They immediately rushed him to a govt hospital, where doctors referred him to another facility. The family then took him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.“Aryan was my only grandson. We were all busy with our work when he slipped into the bucket and could not come out. His death has devastated the family,” Meena said.The in charge of Sanjay Colony police post said the child’s body was sent for postmortem and later handed over to the family.“We have initiated inquest proceedings. Prima facie, there is nothing suspicious, but we are checking all possible angles. The exact cause of death will be clear after the autopsy report,” the officer said.
