Mangaluru: In a late- evening operation, Kankanady Town police seized MDMA valued at Rs 1.2 lakh and arrested a 21-year-old youth near Padil check-post while he was allegedly transporting the MDMA for sale.Complainant PSI Vinayaka Bhavikatti of Kankanady Town police station proceeded on routine night rounds on March 15. At 10pm, while near Kodekkal, he received credible information that a youth was transporting MDMA on a scooter from Kannur towards Padil for sale. Acting on the tip-off, the PSI and his team, while conducting checks along National Highway-66 at 10.45pm, noticed a youth riding a scooter without a helmet. He was signalled to stop. Upon questioning, he identified himself as Vaibhav, 21, from Ashokanagar, Mangaluru. On further inquiry, it was revealed that he was carrying MDMA for sale. During the search, the accused produced four plastic zip-lock packets containing MDMA from his right pant pocket. The total weight of the seized MDMA was 14.9g, with an estimated value of Rs 1.2 lakh.Further, the accused produced an iPhone, valued at approximately Rs 20,000. Five plastic zip-lock covers and a scooter were seized. The total value of all seized items is estimated at Rs 1.9 lakh.MDMA worth Rs 70,000 seizedIn another case, Kavoor police arrested two persons and seized MDMA worth Rs 70,000 during a routine patrol near Padushedde. The complainant, PSI Mallikarjun Biradar of Kavoor police station, on March 16, was on routine patrol duty within the station limits. Near Padushedde, he noticed two persons identified as Pratheek, 32, and Vikshit, 21, standing suspiciously near a car in a public place. They were taken into custody and questioned.During inquiry, the accused revealed that they were waiting for customers to sell MDMA. From accused Pratheek, 32, from Kunjathbail, police seized MDMA weighing 2.2g (one packet), valued at approximately Rs 30,000, an iPhone valued at approximately Rs 1 lakh, 10 empty small zip-lock covers, and a car valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh.From Vikshit, 21, from Yeyyadi, police seized MDMA weighing 4g (1 packet), valued at approximately Rs 40,000, an iPhone valued at approximately Rs 1 lakh, and a digital weighing scale valued at approximately Rs 350.
