Daltonganj: Over 1.5 tonnes of stolen iron plates were recovered from a four-wheeler under Baariyatu police station limits in Latehar district on Sunday, police said. The iron plates were stolen from Triveni, a logistics supplier.Baariyatu police station officer-in-charge Prabhat Kumar Das said, “Police received a tip-off that a vehicle was carrying the stolen plates and immediately began checking vehicles on the Baariyatu-Tandwa road. During the drive, the suspected vehicle was signalled to stop, but the driver accelerated and tried to escape.”Cops then chased and overtook the four-wheeler. “The driver jumped out of the cabin and fled from the spot before he could be arrested,” Das said. The seized vehicle and recovered iron plates were taken to the Manatu police picket for further action and verification.An official of the company registered an FIR against three persons at Baariyatu police station, and efforts have been intensified to trace them, Das said.
