Bokaro: Large-scale migration has emerged during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bokaro district, with 1.32 lakh electors found to have permanently shifted and 3,29,767 names proposed for deletion after verification.Bokaro assembly constituency reported the highest number of shifted voters at 72,443, among its 5,97,439 registered electors. It also had 85,898 absent or untraceable voters.Chas SDM Prajal Dhadha said 2,02,651 names in the constituency were marked for deletion during verification and preparation of the draft roll. These included 72,443 shifted voters, 85,898 absent or untraceable electors, 15,835 deceased, 8,046 duplicate entries, and 20,429 names removed because of technical errors or non-submission of forms.The trend was visible across the district. Gomia recorded 19,591 permanently shifted voters, Bermo 24,906, and Chandankiyari 15,360. Together, the four constituencies accounted for about 1.32 lakh shifted electors.Officials linked the movement to retirement, jobs, education and the search for better opportunities. The figures indicate changing demographics in the industrial district, home to steel and power plants, coal mines, cement units, coal-bed methane reserves and an expanding JIADA base.The migration from rural Chandankiyari also suggests such movement is no longer confined to urban-industrial centres.
