Chennai: A 24-year-old man was killed and two of his friends were injured after their motorcycle crashed into an electric pole near Sithamur in Chengalpet district. The accident reportedly occurred after a dog darted across the road and caused the rider to lose control. According to police, the incident occurred near Nugumbal village when three youths were travelling at high speed on a motorcycle from Sithamur towards Puthiran Kottai. When a dog ran across the road, the rider hit it and lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle skidded and crashed into a roadside electric pole, causing all three riders to fall off the vehicle. The rider, identified as Sarathi, 24, died on the spot due to severe injuries.The other two men sustained serious injuries and were immediately rescued by local residents. They were taken to Chengalpet govt hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Sarathi’s body has been sent to Madurantakam govt hospital for postmortem. Sithamur police have registered a case and an investigation is under way.
