Bengaluru: Central Crime Branch sleuths arrested 11 men on charges of trying to sell 28 tickets of last Sunday’s high-voltage IPL cricket match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).The arrested youths work in private firms and commercial malls as assistants in shops and bought the tickets online, police said.“Using laptops, they purchased 28 tickets online, costing Rs 2,300 to Rs 4,875 and Rs 5,000. On the day of the match, they arrived at the stadium and tried to sell the tickets at four times the original price. We seized eight mobile phones from which they’d shared screenshots of tickets to fans,” an investigating officer said.Cops use tech to trace 110 stolen phones Across 13 stations in north division, police recovered 110 stolen and lost phones in March using central equipment identity register (CEIR). It’s a centralised system that helps trace mobile phones using their IMEI numbers.Among the police stations, RT Nagar, Mahalakshmi Layout and Nandini Layout reported the highest recoveries with 12 mobile phones each. Subramanyanagar followed with 11, while Rajajinagar and Yeshwantpur recovered 10 devices each. Other stations, including JC Nagar, recovered 9 mobile phones; Jalahalli and Malleswaram (8 each); Sanjaynagar (6); Srirampura (5); RMC Yard (4); Hebbal (3).Police urged citizens to make use of CEIR portal by registering details of their lost or stolen phones or by filing complaints at the nearest police station.
