Berhampur: Police on Saturday recovered the charred body of a 24-year-old woman from her residence at Paralakhemundi in Gajapati district.While police suspect she might have self-immolated, no reason was reportedly found for taking such an extreme step. “We have searched her mobile phones and the notebooks but could not find any clues behind the self-immolation,” Prasant Bhupati, inspector in-charge of Paralakhemundi police station, said on Sunday.The victim was identified as Subhra Samal, who was a student of MSc (botany) at SKCG College in Paralakhemundi. Her father is a retired school teacher. Police said her last semester examination was on April 9 and she was preparing for UPSC.B C Samal, her father who had stepped out to take a bath, returned to the house following an alert by his neighbour. “During investigation, the family members said they have no enmity with anyone and their daughter had no affairs with anybody. They said she was a meritorious student,” Bhupati added.
