Namakkal: A young woman and a one-year-old child were found dead near the Cauvery riverbank behind Agraharam Krishna Temple near Pallipalayam here on Wednesday.According to the Pallipalayam police, the bodies were first spotted by local residents, who alerted them. “We recovered the bodies with the help of local fishermen and sent the same to the govt hospital at Pallipalayam for postmortem,” a police officer said. Preliminary inquiries indicated that the woman was aged below 25 years old and the child was about one year old. “We are yet to ascertain the identity of the woman, who seems to be a native of some other district in Tamil Nadu. We are examining footage collected from CCTVs in the locality to check if it is a case of suicide or murder,” the officer said. The Pallipalayam police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
