Hyderabad: A 42-year-old labourer was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife in Mandamarri town of Mancherial district on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Mohammed Moin, a resident of Shanthi Nagar in Mandamarri.According to police officials, at around 5.30 am on Tuesday, neighbours heard screams from Moin’s house and rushed to the spot. They found him bleeding profusely from his neck, while his wife, Sukkala Avanthi, was standing nearby. The neighbours immediately alerted the police and shifted Moin to a nearby hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
Police took Avanthi into custody. During questioning, she confessed to stabbing Moin over harassment related to Rs 7 lakh that her brother had borrowed from him.“Avanthi had a love marriage with Moin about a decade ago, and the couple has two children. Recently, differences arose between them due to financial hardships. Moin had undergone bypass surgery and was pressuring Avanthi’s brother to return the Rs 7 lakh he had borrowed a few months ago. Under the influence of alcohol, Moin allegedly harassed Avanthi daily over the issue. On Tuesday morning, during an argument, she repeatedly stabbed him in the neck,” Mandamarri SI Naresh said.Police shifted the body for a postmortem. A blood-stained knife was seized from the victim’s house. A case was registered against Avanthi under section 103 (1) (murder) of the BNS. She will be produced before the court for judicial remand on Wednesday.
