Mangaluru: A woman,42, was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband within the limits of Puttur Rural police station following reported marital disputes. The accused later attempted to take his own life.The deceased has been identified as Savithri.According to a complaint filed by her father Tippa,75, Savithri had been working as a daily-wage labourer for the past month at a plantation owned by Chaitanya at Golthila in Ariyadka village of Puttur. She had been staying in an old house within the plantation premises. Tippa stated that Savithri had earlier informed him about ongoing marital disputes with her husband, Bairappa.On Friday, a relative informed Tippa over the phone that Bairappa had allegedly stabbed Savithri to death and attempted suicide. Tippa rushed to the spot and found his daughter lying in a pool of blood on a mud road within the rubber plantation. A knife was found next to the body.Preliminary inquiry revealed that Bairappa allegedly attacked Savithri with a knife, causing fatal injuries, and later attempted to end his life by slashing his neck. Locals immediately shifted him to Puttur govt hospital for treatment.Puttur Rural police have registered a case under Section 103 of BNS, and probe is on.
