Thiruvananthapuram: A 41-year-old woman was killed in a road accident near Koliyakode on the Pothencode–Venjaramoodu road on Sunday morning. The deceased was Ganga of Kizhamalakkal, Koliyakode. Her son, Amarnath, 17, who was travelling with her, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment in a hospital.The accident occurred around 9.30am when Ganga was travelling from Pothencode to Venjaramoodu on her two-wheeler, with her son riding pillion. According to police, while negotiating a curve in Koliyakode area, a car suddenly appeared in front of the scooter. To avoid a collision, Ganga applied a sudden brake, however a KSRTC bus rear-ended the two-wheeler. Locals along with police rushed the injured to a nearby hospital. However, Ganga succumbed to her injuries there. Her body was later shifted to Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination. Further investigation into the incident is under way.
