Sambalpur: One woman died and four others sustained critical injuries after a speeding truck rammed into an auto-rickhshaw in Sambalpur district on Monday morning. According to reports, the auto-rickhshaw was carrying around 12 passengers from Beherasinghgarh to Maneswar weekly market around 8 am when a fast-moving truck hit the vehicle from behind near Phuljharan on NH-55 under Jujumura police limits.The impact caused the auto-rickshaw to overturn on the road leading to the on-the-spot death of a 55-year-old woman, Bed Kharasel of Beherasinghgarh. Four other passengers were left severely injured and were found lying in a pool of blood. Locals rescued the injured and immediately shifted them to the district headquarters hospital, Sambalpur.On receiving information, Jujumura police reached the spot, seized both the vehicles, and initiated an investigation. The identities of the other injured persons are yet to be confirmed. The truck driver fled the scene abandoning the vehicle, police sources said.
