T’puram: A 26-year-old woman, identified as Simi, drowned in Neyyar reservoir near Vazhichal on Wednesday. According to police, the incident occurred around noon when the Vazhichal native woman and her husband Nithin had gone to bathe in a thekal (a shallow inlet area of the reservoir) located about 250m from their house. While they were bathing, Nithin briefly returned home to collect soap. When he came back, Simi was nowhere to be seen, and later spotted her lying in water nearby. He soon pulled her out and rushed to hospital. However, doctors declared her dead around 1.30pm.Police said preliminary information suggests accidental drowning, and further proceedings are under way. TNN
