Chennai: Weeks after being suspended for negligence in connection with the murder of rowdy Aathi alias Aadikesavan at Kilpauk govt medical college hospital, a woman head constable attempted suicide at her residence in TP Chatram on Monday. Special sub-inspector Giridharan, who too had been suspended in the case, died by suicide at his home in Sevvapet last month.Police said J Ambika, who worked at Kilpauk govt hospital police station, was one of five police personnel suspended following the rowdy’s murder on Jan 11. Following Giridharan’s death, the suspension action against the police officials was withdrawn. However, Ambika faced issues pertaining to her salary due to the suspension.On Monday, while alone at home, Ambika attempted suicide. Family members rescued her and rushed her to Kilpauk govt medical college hospital, where she is receiving intensive treatment. Investigation is on.
