Rajkot: A 30-year-old woman accused her ex-husband, who later became her live-in partner, of repeatedly raping her and threatening to kill her and their son if she refused to comply.According to the FIR lodged at the University Police Station, the complainant married the man in 2019, and the couple had a son in 2022. However, due to marital discord, they divorced on Dec 12 last year. Post-divorce, the woman’s three-year-old son continued to live with the father. To jointly care for the child, the woman entered into a live-in relationship with him on Dec 17, 2024, just five days after the divorce.She alleged that during this arrangement, he coerced her into sexual relations multiple times. When she resisted, he reportedly threatened to kill her and their child, stating that after the legal divorce, she would not be able to take any action against him.The woman further alleged that he sexually assaulted her in Ahmedabad in Jan this year and again in Rajkot later. She claimed he clamped down on her communication by deactivating her phone number and giving her a new one, and also prevented her from contacting her parents.In the same month, he dropped her off at her maternal uncle’s house to take care of her father, who had met with an accident.On Jan 23, 2025, the live-in relationship was formally ended. The FIR states that the man retained custody of their son. The woman and her family made repeated attempts to regain custody but were only allowed to meet the boy just once a month.On June 16, 2025, the woman filed a petition in court seeking custody of her son.
