General Randy George, the Chief of Staff of the United States Army, has been asked to retire immediately by US Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth. CBS News reported, citing sources that the former Fox host has asked Gen. George to step down immediately.
As of now, Gen. Randy George as not resigned, but, according to the report, it is imminent. It is also unclear what prompted the decision. But one of the sources cited in the CBS report that there were some concerns around Gen. Randy George’s ability to carry out Donald Trump’s plans for the US Army.
The significance of the decision lies in its timing as the US is preparing for what Trump called “back to the Stone Ages” attacks on Iran, even as more and more US troops travel to the Middle East for a potential ground mobilization in Iran.
“We are grateful for his service, but it was time for a leadership change in the Army,” a senior Army official quoted in the CBS report stated. It was unclear if there was any disagreement between general Randy George and the Trump administration over their “vision for the Army.”
This is a breaking news.
