Gadag: Law minister HK Patil retorted strongly to the statement of Union minister HD Kumaraswamy, referring to the letter using mythological characters like Kumbhakarna and Ravana, suggesting it should be thrown into the trash. On Tuesday, Patil told reporters that he wrote a detailed letter regarding illegal mining in the state. “Whether the letter belongs in the trash or should be acted upon is for the recipient to decide,” he added. Responding to a question about whether CM Siddaramaiah was passive during his previous and current terms, he counter-questioned whether, during Kumaraswamy’s tenure, reports of illegal activities were ignored while he was in office. “The purpose of my letter is to reclaim the illegal mining wealth worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore for the people of Karnataka. The illegal plunder caused a loss of invaluable resources, and steps should be taken to return their value to the people of Karnataka,” he stated.
