Noida: Three members of a robbers’ gang were arrested around 12am Monday after a gunfight in Sector 133. The miscreants, who have allegedly committed over 50 robberies in Delhi-NCR, would pick up passengers in a rented auto-rickshaw and rob them of all their valuables at gunpoint. They would also break windows of parked vehicles and steal things kept inside.On July 14, Vikas (22), Pankaj Prajapati (23) and Kartik Manjhi (24) robbed an engineer in Sector 127. They took his laptop, mobile phone and cash at gunpoint. Two weeks ago, they broke into a parked car in a parking lot outside Paras Mall in Sector 133 and stole a laptop, among other things.The suspects engaged in a gunfight with the police, in which two of the accused were injured. A fourth member has been identified and remains absconding. The accused had recently looted an engineer of his belongings at gunpoint.On Sunday night, police officers on patrol spotted their auto in Sector 133. When signalled to stop, they made an escape bid. The driver lost control and drove into a large bush. They opened fire at the police, and two of them, Vikas and Pankaj, got injured in crossfire. Kartik managed to escape, but couldn’t go far. Police nabbed him within 10 minutes. The auto, a stolen laptop and mobile, cash, and pistols were recovered from them. Another member of their gang, Arif, is on the run, said additional DCP Sumit Kumar Shukla.The three lived in a rented flat in Surajpur. “They would sell the looted valuables in different markets of Delhi at very low prices. They were on their way to sell the stolen laptops when they were caught. We are also collecting information about the shopkeepers who bought stolen goods from them,” Singh said. Police said they are looking into any potential links with the Thak-Thak gang.Four cases have been registered against the criminals at Sector 126 police station.
