West Bengal polls: BJP releases fourth list of 13 candidates, replaces one nominee

Kolkata: BJP released fourth list with names of 13 candidates on Tuesday. The names of candidates for 6 more constituencies are yet to be declared. Significant names of candidates in the list include Soma Thakur, Santosh Pathak, former IPS officer Debashis Dhar, and youtuber Manav Guha. The BJP has also changed one of its candidates. Manynaguri candidate has been replaced and Dalim Roy has been named.

Soma Thakur, the wife of Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shantanu Thakur, has been fielded from Bagda in the North 24 Parganas district. Santosh Pathak, the former Congress councillor, who recently joined the BJP last week, has been given a ticket from Chowrangee in the Kolkata district. Chowranghee is a very important seat in Kolkata and contested by Trinamool candidate and sitting MLA Nayna Bandopadhyay, wife of Sudip Bandopadhyay.

The fourth list includes key constituencies such as Sitai, Magrahat, and Garbeta.
Mother of RG Kar PGT doctor, who was raped and murdered in 2024 August, will contest from Panihati Assembly Constituency with a BJP ticket in coming assembly polls. Her name has featured In BJP’s third list released today, which has 19 names.

A few days back RG Kar, victim’s mother, has said that she is eager to fight the polls with a BJP ticket and fight corruption Trinamool COngress in Bengaland issues of women’s safety and security.
