West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Wednesday that the West Bengal government will adopt a “Detect, Delete and Deport” policy and it will be implemented for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, other than Hindu refugees and other communities mentioned in the CAA law.
“It is requested to take initiative/appropriate action for setting up of Holding Centres in the district for apprehended foreigners as well as for the released foreign prisoners awaiting deportation/repatriation in accordance with the MHA guideline under reference,” a Home & Hill Affairs Department order said on May 23.
According to an official directive issued on May 23 by the Foreigners’ Branch (SAARC VISA Section) of the Home & Hill Affairs Department, the state government secretary instructed the DMs to follow the MHA guidelines and noted the “procedure to be followed for deportation of Bangladeshi/Rohingyas apprehended for staying illegally in this country.”
