Commercial at Rs 2188.5
Srinagar, Mar 07: Domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices were hiked for the second time in less than a year on Friday, with the revised rates coming into effect across Jammu and Kashmir from March 7, amid rising global energy costs triggered by the West Asia crisis.
The price of a 14-kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 60, taking the new price to Rs 1,029 across the Kashmir Valley. The earlier price stood at Rs 969.
Jagmohan Singh Raina, proprietor of Kashmir Gas Agency, confirmed the revision. “The domestic LPG will now be available at Rs 1,029. The earlier price for a domestic cylinder was Rs 969 across the Valley,” he said.
The 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has also seen a steeper hike of Rs 142.50, with the revised price now standing at Rs 2,188.50, up from Rs 2,046.
The first hike in the current cycle was effected in April 2025. Friday’s revision comes nearly 11 months later, marking the second increase in under a year.
Jammu prices lower
Prices in Jammu division remain lower owing to reduced transportation charges. The 14-kg domestic cylinder will be available at Rs 964.50, while the 19-kg commercial cylinder will cost Rs 2,024.50 in the Jammu region.
The back-to-back hikes come against the backdrop of a spike in global energy rates following the escalating West Asia crisis. The increase is expected to weigh on household budgets, as LPG remains the primary cooking fuel for millions of families across Jammu and Kashmir and the country.
