Panaji: The directorate of health services has found the presence of Coliform in the tap water and borewell water at Prabhu Violetta, Dabolim, to the extent of 14 MPN/100 ml and recommended against human consumption. The DHS drew samples of tap water from various flats, shops and borewell of Prabhu Violeta Building on March 13 and 17.“All six samples analysed were found to be contaminated. The sample of water analysed is found contaminated by Coliform organisms. The water therefore cannot be recommended for human consumption,” stated senior scientific assistant Satish Gopal Gawas in the bacteriological examination analysis of all the samples.Meanwhile, Prabhu Realtors on Tuesday informed the residents of Prabhu’s Violeta that it will temporarily suspend water supply to prevent overflow of sewage tanks to manage the current volume. The builder stated that water supply will be cut off between 3 pm to 6 pm and between 9:30 pm to 6 am (next morning) for one week.“As you are aware, we are currently lifting the daily sewage generated in the society via night soil tanders. However, we are facing significant logistical constraints: The PWD STP Plant (where sewage is discharged) closes at 6pm. After 6pm, we are restricted to a maximum of only four tanker trips for the remainder of the night,” Prabhu Realtors stated, adding, “To prevent the catastrophic overflow of sewage tanks and to manage the current volume effectively, we are compelled to implement a temporary suspension of water supply.”Prabhu Realtors stated that water supply to all the buildings will be cut off for the hours mentioned, effective immediately, and will remain in place for the next one week until the situation is stabilised.
