Panaji: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a rise in temperatures in Goa, pointing to warmer than usual nights this summer.The meteorological department’s evening observations state that the minimum temperatures in Panaji and Mormugao have climbed above normal levels.Panaji recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8°C, which is 2.2°C above normal, while Mormugao registered 26.4°C, higher by 1.2°C.Daytime temperatures also remained above seasonal averages.The state capital saw a maximum temperature of 34.6° (+1.7°C), while Mormugao recorded a higher 35.4°C (+3.1°C). Relative humidity stood at 76% in Panaji and 89% in Mormugao.The IMD has forecast that dry and mainly sunny weather is very likely to persist over Goa until April 2.IMD observations show a trough extending from Marathwada to coastal Karnataka across north interior Karnataka at about 0.9 km above mean sea level. However, the system is not expected to influence Goa’s weather, as No major change in temperature is anticipated over the next week due to this feature.
