Wardha: A district court in Wardha has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of his son. District judge-2 and additional sessions judge SJ Ansari convicted Narayan Amanji Chavan under section 302 of IPC and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs5,000, failing which he will have to undergo 1 year of simple imprisonment.According to the prosecution, the deceased Vishal was working outside the town. On Jan 6, 2022, he withdrew Rs5,000 from a bank and gave it to his mother. The accused became angry as Vishal did not give him the money.
Holding a grudge, the accused attacked Vishal on the head with a stone pestle. Vishal sustained serious injuries, collapsed in a pool of blood and died on the spot.Additional public prosecutor Vinay R Ghude claimed that the accused had earlier left the family and lived with another woman. After the woman’s death, he returned home. It also came on record that the accused, while intoxicated, would abuse and assault his wife and son.After the incident, the accused called his second son Amol and confessed, saying, “I have killed Vishal.”When the complainant mother returned home at night, she found Vishal lying in a pool of blood. She then lodged a complaint at Ram Nagar police station.Police inspector Sanjay Mishra conducted the investigation and filed a chargesheet against the accused in offence number 53/2022 under section 302 of the IPC. Based on the testimony of 11 witnesses, the chemical analysis report and medical evidence, the court held the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence on Feb 5, 2026.
