Vadodara: The tax collection of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is set to cross Rs 700 crore with 699.22 crore already raked in.VMC started collecting overdue taxes and even announced a scheme to waive interest on pending taxes. The process of sealing properties also started to ensure that unpaid taxes are collected for such properties.Sources said that the total target for taxes for the current fiscal stood at Rs 790.10 crore. With the financial year coming to a close and around Rs 90 crore collection still pending against the target, officials are working overtime to ensure that the target is met.The officials also wrote to various govt departments that have large buildings in the city and whose taxes are pending. VMC avoids sealing or any other strict action against such departments.
