Panaji: Close on the heels of his hunger strike, Revolutionary Goans MLA Viresh Borkar decided to introduce four private members’ bills to protect Goa’s fragile and eco-sensitive land for discussion during the budget session of the state legislative assembly that starts on March 6.“We have put Justice Rebello’s bill for the assembly session and three separate bills of ours as private member’s bills,” said RG president Manoj Parab. The proposed bills include the TCP (Amendment) Bill, 2026, through which the RG wants the revocation of Section 39A of the TCP Act. Borkar has also submitted the Goa Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to define mega housing projects that come up in panchayat jurisdictions. The bill also aims to empower gram sabhas to decide on large residential projects and commercial development in villages. The third bill to be introduced by Borkar is the Goa Land Protection and Conservation Bill, 2026 which seeks to restrict the sale and conversion of fragile eco-sensitive areas.
