Kanpur: A helicopter-like drone crashed into a wheat field in Nandpur village in Saifai area of Etawah on Friday evening, causing panic among villagers, who informed police.Police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The administration said the drone crashed due to technical reasons during a test flight conducted with permission of civil aviation department and no loss of life or property damage occurred.Additional district magistrate of Etawah, Abhinav Ranjan Shrivastava, said prior permission to use the Saifai airstrip was granted by civil aviation department. LAT Aerospace company was conducting a test flight of its unmanned aerial vehicle prototype, when the drone lost control and crashed in a field near Nandpur village.The crash panicked villagers, scared all the more because of its helicopter-like shape. A large number of villagers gathered at the spot. On receiving information, police and fire brigade department teams reached the spot. The area was cordoned off as officials began investigation. The ADM said accident was caused by technical reasons and was not be viewed as a serious security threat.
