Thiruvananthapuram: Venjaramoodu police registered a suo motu case after a video surfaced showing a group of Class X students of Thaikkad Govt Higher Secondary School allegedly assaulting Class IX students on the school premises. Statements of parents of the injured students have been recorded and further investigation is under way.The assault reportedly took place around 4.30pm on Friday when Class IX students were returning home after their examination. A group of Class X students, who allegedly arrived on bikes, attacked them following an argument.During the assault, one student was hit on the back of the head with a stone and sustained injuries. Two injured Class IX students were initially moved to Attingal taluk hospital and later shifted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital.Three Class X students arrived on a scooter and an altercation broke out after one of the juniors was allegedly hit on the hand, later escalating into a physical attack, police said.Locals stopped the scooter used by the students and handed it over to police.The incident came to light after a video of the assault circulated on social media, in which a student can be heard shouting, “Don’t beat him to death.”“A meeting of school authorities, teachers and parents will be convened to discuss the incident and take necessary steps to prevent such occurrences in future,” police said.
